Each of us will face things in our life that cause us to feel anxious, nervous, stressed, worried, etc. Remember that transitions take time and whatever you are facing is temporary. Those feelings of anxiety are also temporary. In this blog I'm sharing some techniques that really help calm me down and get my back on the right track.
Whenever I feel anxious I have thee hardest time sleeping. My brain just doesn't stop thinking. I have found that if I work-out during the day my body is more tired during the evening and I fall asleep easier. I completely cut out caffeine and cut back on my sugar intake, they definitely stimulate my brain and that's not what I want.
When I'm in bed and my mind is going a mile a minute I typically pray and repeat different comforting bible verses. After that I literally just count each time I breath in and out, sounds weird but it is super effective in calming me down.
1 Peter 5:7 " Cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you."
Psalm 4:8 "In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety."
Have Steffany Gretzinger's album "The Undoing" on repeat. Her songs are just simple/pure worship, they focus on praising God and acknowledge His authority. I listen to this during the day & I also leave it playing as I fall asleep.
Read the Bible. This is THEE most effective. When reading the Bible you are reminded of God's promises for you and your life. He always teaches us something when we take the time to listen.
Talk to someone about how you are feeling and what you are going through. It's so important to have that support and another person praying for you. People won't think you are weird, they will most likely feel honored that you trust them with such sensitive information.
Just know that everyone will deal with it at some point in their life, it's only temporary and with God you will be given peace and assurance.
