This blog is written directly to someone who desires to know more about being in a relationship with God. I write a lot about God and my relationship with Him but then I stopped myself and realized that many people want to have a better relationship with Him but don't know how to.
Who is God?
God is the creator of everything in existence. The very first book of the bible, Genesis, explains the process that God went through in order to create the world and every living creature. (Genesis 1: 1-31 you can google that if you don't have a bible). God created everything and He rules over everything, but for some reason He still desires to have an intimate relationship with us. He cares about you & me and doesn't desire to strike us down with lightening if we do something wrong. His number one desire is to have a relationship with you and guide you through life. God came down to earth in human form, we call him Jesus, and walked with us humans. He taught us how to live and gave us wise instruction on who He is and the relationship He desires to have with us. He allowed himself to be murdered on a cross as a symbol of His love for us. The blood that He shed was a sacrifice to cover our sins and cleanse us. After He died on the cross we have been given grace, we are able to simply pray and ask God to forgive us for our wrong doing and he does!
How can I grow closer to God?
You have to choose to dedicate your life to Christ. You can't just follow some of the things He asks, you are either a Christ follower or you aren't. Just like any relationship here on earth you have to invest in order to have depth in that relationship. Spend time with God by reading the bible and putting it's teaching into practice. I usually have a journal out while i'm reading through, anytime I see a verse I need to remember I write it down. There is instruction for anything you will face in life. You can also pray to God, praying is simply talking to Him. I usually just close my eyes to keep focused and I talk to Him about my worries, fears, rejoices, or anything else! Got involved in His church. Being friends with other Christians has made a HUGE impact on my life. I have wise people I can go to for advice or prayers and I have friends who truly love me and keep me out of trouble. I met my future husband while serving in the Church and being involved in the community.
If you truly apply yourself to these things you WILL experience change in yourself and in your life.
