Something that is easy to forget is that your little everyday decisions and your big life decisions are going to affect you...FOREVER. This is something I am learning right now by watching people around me. Since I am young and still have so much to learn about this life it is necessary to look at the outcomes of other people's lives and determine if they are an example of someone you want to be or someone you never want to be.
Remember that each small decision you makes leads you to the big decisions. It is important to always be aware of who you are and who you are becoming. We are influenced by everything we absorb around us: friends, music, TV, Instagram, family, girl friends, etc. If you lose focus for one second you could begin your path down a road you shouldn't go down.
Pride is the number one thing that will take us down. If you deny wisdom or guidance from God's word or even people you will most likely fail. It is so important to acknowledge that you don't know it all! Being a "know it all" is too high of a standard to live up to. Be honest with whoever you ask advice from, if they don't know the full truth then you won't get the proper guidance. If you lie and cater your story to make yourself look good you will not get the wisdom you need. Be honest. Admit your faults.
Shane & I have seen people start down that exact path of destruction, it starts off with minor bad decisions but it is like a snowball effect that will ultimately destroy you. Take a look at this verse..
"Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death" -James 1:15
Once you start down a path of sin it is hard to stop. My encouragement would be to focus on your decisions right now. Like literally right now.
