"Keep my commandments and live; keep my teaching as the apple of your eye..."
There are so many things in our lives that distract us from God. There are always tasks to accomplish and work that needs to get done. Most of us know how beneficial it is to spend time with God and we genuinely want to but somehow other things always take priority. Being in God's presence is vital and we need to fight for that time with Him.
Our hearts are naturally so mean, I know I can see a difference in my heart when I am not in His word. A little later in Proverbs 7 it says to keep his teachings close, "...bind them on your fingers, write them on the tablet of your heart." I don't know about you but that verse just inspires me to read more often, to memorize key verses and to write them down and keep them with me throughout the day! It makes me want to be around other awesome Godly women who will give me advice that is inspired by God.
This chapter in Proverbs is titled "Warning against the adulteress" and it explains the process of the woman seducing a man and in the end the man denies wisdom and choose his own desires. Look at how he ends up, "With much seductive speech she persuades him; with her smooth talk she compels him. All at once he follows her, as an ox goes to the slaughter..." A little later it says, "he does not know that it will cost him his life."
I think this chapter is meant to be like a warning; most of us have been in situations where we know what we are about to do is wrong, you might have felt that gut wrenching fleeing in your stomach that tells you NO NO NO. Without proper guidance we will find ourselves in moments very similar to the man in the story.
Thank you so much for reading this. I'm praying that I would be able to write in a way where you know and understand that God is loving and He wants what is best for your life. He is redeeming and will meet you right where you are.
