What God wants you to do.

What God wants you to do.

I was reading through Romans right now when I came up on a section which simplified the Bible. Here is what the verse says...

"For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet," and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself". Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law" Romans 13:9-10

I LOVE THIS VERSE. When I read it at first I appreciated all the different commandments laid out; when you see them like that it just makes it so clear what you aren't supposed to do and what you are supposed to do. Then the clarity is increased when you read the closing line..."Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law."

How much simpler could it get? If you just focus on loving others you will keep the commandments! Here are some examples!

Friendship: In a friendship if I were jealous of another person it would definitely get in the way of us bonding. If my number one goal was to love her like Christ loves us, jealousy wouldn't cross my mind. God reveals peoples true hearts and instead of being jealous you would know their struggles and you would want to walk with them.

Marriage: In marriage if you break any of these commandments it allows sin to creep in. If you love like Jesus loves you would be reminded daily that you're spouse needs to be reminded of God's love just as much as a random person at church. Think about this: in the same way that you go to another country to love on God's people you should reach out and minister to your spouse. You have a huge impact on your spouse; you can either build them up or tear them down. No adultery, murder, theft, or  jealousy.

Work environment: It is important to love like Jesus in your work environment too; just think about the reprocutions of stealing! Sin takes you down a dark path and the further you go the more the sin piles up. It can start somewhere small and develop into something life-changing.

James 1:15 "Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death."

Be aware! Sin can creep into your life at ANY moment. It could be introduced by watching the wrong movie, listening to the wrong music, befriending the wrong person, etc etc.

Desire --> Sin --> Death: I have seen this scenario play out in loved ones lives. It starts with an evil desire and if you don't stop it will take you somewhere you don't want to go.

God wants you to bring Him honor and you can do that by loving others.
