WOOOHOOO! My second post in this series title "Pursue". I hope that this series inspires you to go after what God has called you to do!! This awesome person you are about to meet is my sister and best friend, Katelyn Bowker! Take a look at her story so far!
"My name is Katelyn Bowker I have my BSN and am working on my masters. I am a postpartum nurse. I take care of moms and babies after delivery.
I was a waitress for five years and found my passion for people and loving like Jesus does. I knew I wanted to do Obstetrics by my first day in labor and delivery. I was with a mom and it had already been 12 hours and I didn't want to leave. When I moved on to the next semester, all my heart wanted was to be back in with mom's and babies.
I went to California Baptist University and was in the nursing program there where I earned my BSN. During my schooling I did my preceptorship at Corona Regional Medical Center and loved their team dynamic and how welcoming the nurses were.
I had many set backs, retaking a semester and then not being able to take the NCLEX (Needed for RN license) for 5 months after my graduation. My heart was constantly being torn. I thought many times, "maybe God has a different plan for me, maybe I'm not meant to do this" but that was the enemy trying to keep me from Gods major blessings. I went to mentors asking for prayer and guidance. In the end God provided me with strength, courage and peace to get to where I am today.
I'm a OB nurse! My dream job! In a year or so I'll have my masters and move to be labor and delivery nurse. I have also had many opportunities to pray for many patients while working there. It is very rewarding when moms tell me that I made their special day so much better.
I always want to stay open to God's whispers and promptings. I want everyone to feel loved and know Jesus loves them. I plan to continue my nursing career learning all that can and see where God takes me through all of it."
Hi! Kristen here! It's so crazy reading through this short summary of like 7 years...literally. Nursing school is no joke. I saw Katy study day and night, she was so dedicated and it was heartbreaking seeing her face trials. It is incredible that she pushed through everything she face. It's crazy how when God wants you to do something and has made you to do something He will carry you through.
